Abstract 

 

Evasive Answers in Political Interviews and Their Pragmatic Functions

 

      People communicate with others to obtain new information, express their attitudes and share feelings to keep a harmonious relationship in verbal communication. When meeting tricky questions or private topics, and those could not be replied at once, at this moment, they will seek for certain strategies to facilitate their communication. Evasion, as a communicative strategy, is a preferable.

Based on Adaptation Theory, this paper analyzes evasive answers in nine pieces of political interviews and tries to explore their pragmatic functions. Interlocutors in these interviews satisfy their communicational needs with both overt and covert evasion strategies. Evasive answers in political interviews can help to withhold information and maintain a harmonious relationship

This study may shed some lights on the future study of evasive answers, and contribute to improve people’s communicational ability.

摘要

政治訪談中閃避回答的方式和功能

人們?cè)诮浑H中通過(guò)交流，獲取信息，表達(dá)態(tài)度，分享感受，維持和諧關(guān)系。他們常常遇到狡猾的問(wèn)題或是私人話題，使之無(wú)法當(dāng)即回答。這時(shí)，他們會(huì)尋求一定的戰(zhàn)略來(lái)幫助維持交流。而閃避就是一個(gè)頗受歡迎的交際策略。

本文從不同的政治訪談中選取了9段政治訪談對(duì)話作為語(yǔ)料，采用語(yǔ)言順應(yīng)論對(duì)政治訪談中的回避現(xiàn)象進(jìn)行分析，并分析其語(yǔ)用功能。采訪中的談話者能運(yùn)用明示回避策略和暗示回避策略來(lái)滿足他們的交際需求，政治采訪中的閃避回答不僅可以幫助對(duì)話者保留信息，還能維持和諧的人際關(guān)系。
