Studies on cytology of 3 Astragalus species from Northwestern China
Abstract: The chromosome numbers and karyotypes of three Astragalus species from northwestern China are reported in this paper. The results of karyotype research show that all 3 species are diploid. Their chromosome numbers and karyotypes are formulated as follows: A. efoliolatus, 2n=16=12m(2SAT)+4sm, “1A” type; A. taiyuanensis, 2n=16=14m(2SAT)+2sm, “1A” type; A. variabilis, 2n=16=4m+10sm (2SAT)+2st, “3A” type; The chromosome numbers and karyotypes of all the 3 species are reported for the first time except A. variabilis.
