摘要 光子晶體是由不同折射率的介質(zhì)周期性排列而成的人工微結(jié)構(gòu)。光子晶體具有光子帶隙、局域模等特殊性質(zhì)。利用這些性質(zhì),光子晶體可以制作許多具有優(yōu)越性能的光學(xué)器件。近年,光子晶體表面波這一性質(zhì)也被廣泛研究,逐漸發(fā)現(xiàn)其在生產(chǎn)生活中的應(yīng)用。通過(guò)激發(fā)光子晶體-光子晶體表面波的方法,可以對(duì)一定頻率內(nèi)的傳輸光實(shí)現(xiàn)輸出光的分束,以此特征可以制作光子晶體分束器。
本文通過(guò)理論分析和數(shù)值模擬,研究了通過(guò)激發(fā)二維光子晶體表面波實(shí)現(xiàn)光束分束從而制作光子晶體分束器的方法。首先介紹了光子晶體現(xiàn)階段的研究成果及光子晶體中電磁場(chǎng)表征的正常模式。其次,對(duì)現(xiàn)階段的各種光束分束器做簡(jiǎn)要介紹和分析,對(duì)比其優(yōu)缺點(diǎn)。最后對(duì)光子晶體表面波這一性質(zhì)進(jìn)行理論研究。通過(guò)光子晶體的表面改性,設(shè)計(jì)了一種新型的組合結(jié)構(gòu)。使用平面波展開(kāi)法結(jié)合超原胞技術(shù)對(duì)該結(jié)構(gòu)的耦合表面波色散關(guān)系進(jìn)行了研究,研究之后再使用時(shí)域有限差分法數(shù)值模擬傳入該結(jié)構(gòu)中的光波的傳輸特性。研究結(jié)果表明,所提出的新型結(jié)構(gòu),對(duì)一定頻率范圍內(nèi)的傳輸光可以實(shí)現(xiàn)輸出光的分束,此特征可以用來(lái)制作光束分束器。

Design of a new type of photonic crystal beamsplitter based on surface wave

Abstract Photonic crystal is a kind of artificial microstructure, which is composed of different refractive index mediums arranged periodically. Photonic crystal has some special properties, such as the photonic band gap, local mode. By using these properties, optical device with many superior performances can made. Recently, with extensive studies of the surface wave of the photonic crystal, it has gradually found the application of photonic crystal in the production and living. By stimulating the surface wave of photonic crystal, light within a certain frequency can realize the beam splitting, which can be used to make photonic crystal splitter.
This paper, through theoretical analysis and numerical simulation, studies the methods of making photonic crystal splitter by stimulating the surface wave of the two-dimensional photonic crystal beam to realize the separation of light beams. First, it introduces the present researches and achievements of photonic crystal as well as the normal form of the characterization of electromagnetic field in photonic crystal. Second, it introduces and analyzed present beam splitters, then compares their advantages and disadvantages. Finally, there is a theory research about the properties of surface wave of photonic crystal. A novel composite structure formed by surface modification photonic crystals is devised. The dispersion relation of coupling surface wave of this new structure is studied by using the plane wave expansion method and super original cell technology. On this basis, it then simulates the transmission characteristics of light beams in this structure by using Finite Difference Time Domain. The research shows that the new structure proposed, can realize the output of beam splitting within a certain frequency range. This feature can be used to make the beam splitter.
